Pivot Trader Review

Pivot Trader Strategy from Steve Copan
What they say:
“The guy has spent the last six months digging up his garden – by himself – so he can build a swimming pool underground…”
Such a dumb idea is NOT cheap. And in his case, it’s even more expensive as he insists on the best of everything, including the £500 pool filter he’s obsessed with.
Yet all of this enterprise – as crazy as it may be – is paid for by the money he banks thanks to his own trading strategies.
And it’s profit from ACTUAL TRADING too…
It’s not from selling 1,000 copies of a trading manual to unsuspecting novices looking to make an extra buck.
In fact, he’s very exclusive about how many he takes on board…
Dear Reader,
As strange as Steve might be, there’s one thing I must admit…
When it comes to trading…
He damn well knows what he’s doing!
In fact, I believe he’s discovered one of the soundest and simplest ways to profit from the financial markets I have ever come across.
And I don’t mean to get carried away…
But this could be one of the most consistent, time-saving and profitable trading strategies you EVER use. It will actually help you force the market to pay you tax-free bonuses of £245, £54, £305 or £142 whenever one of the trades trigger.

Hi Fraser, No I’m not trading this anymore. I stopped in June 2015 when the ‘Greek Tragedy’ hit it pretty badly. Family issues have prevented a return to trading it since then.
Hope it’s going ok for you

For April
Trades Indicated; 91
Wins: 26
Losses: 12
Cancelled: 48
Carried over 5
All trades @ 1% risk, traded only on win/lose basis. Win rate for April 68.44%. Ideally I’d be looking for a win rate around 70%+ as that is the rate that the creator of the system seemed to be achieving-but we’re not far off for April. A couple of late losses (last day of the month) knocked it back a bit.
So in ‘real world’ trading conditions (ie with stop slippages/my stuff ups/rogue price spikes etc) I’ve added more than 21% to my account balance for March/April with a conservative risk profile of only 1% per trade. I’m very happy with this and will continue to use and tweak the strategy as time goes by.
I’m looking at adding wti and a couple of Indices to help smooth out price spikes which this strategy does seem to be vulnerable to. I might also look at increasing my risk to 1.5% per trade-I’ll think carefully about that one!
I might add some results for May-see how I go. Originally when I bought this strategy I was looking for something that would produce consistent results over the longer term with a set-and-forget approach and no need for a particular broker. I will cautiously say I think this will do that. I hope someone finds this info useful.
Ok that’s it for me

Hi Clive, My results are as above. However in the last week or two it seems that I’m experiencing an increasing loss rate. It always happens-as soon as I say things are going ok, it starts to slide (sigh).
Anyway I’ll continue to press on at least until the end of April then I’ll make a decision on whether I continue to use it or not.
Re Instruments traded include all majors (but no Swissie-don’t trust ’em now), AUD/NZD, Gold, EUR/JPY, GBP/JPY, NZD/JPY and USD/SGD.
I’m keeping a careful eye on results, and also back testing other pairs to see how they’ve performed this year. If I find one (such as the NZD/JPY recently) I add it to the list.
Hope that’s useful. I’d be very interested in knowing how you’re going with it, how long you’ve been using it, what you’re trading and the percentage success rate. You mentioned on the other page that your results were mixed?

For March
Trades Indicated 70
Wins 19
Losses 10
Cancelled 36 (It should be stated that the strategy expects a lot of cancelled trades as setups change daily.)
Carried over 5
A month of two halves. First half had lots of wins and very few losses, then it reversed in the second half. Three of the losses occurred on two extra pairs (exotics that I usually don’t trade-isn’t that always the way!) that had valid setups but were knocked out with the price spikes around FOMC. If I had left these alone then it would have only been 7 losses (you live and learn). But for the sake of honest reporting I’ve included them.
I’ll report for April then that will probably be it for now. I’ve got to get the Market Matrix stuff up and running and will start concentrating on that soon.
My opinion so far. Its not too bad as a strategy and is fairly consistently profitable, if you don’t mind setting up lots of trades you know you’ll most likely be cancelling in a few days time. I’m happy with it overall and will continue to use it.

I only traded this from 18th Feb, so these are results from then to the end Feb.

I’ve just read the updated review on this over at MMR so I’m encouraged to give it another run, seeing as their review said they saw excellent results using both parts of the strategy, but only trading on the major pairs.
So, I’ll see how we go…..
Darin
For January 2015.
46 trades triggered
11 wins
10 losses
25 cancelled
Trades were @ 1% risk max and placed across all major/minor pairs plus a couple of exotics AUD/SGD and USD/SGD strictly according to the rules of the game (strategy). I traded purely on a win/lose basis, not on how many pips it produced. I haven’t used the ‘extra pivots’ part of this strategy at this stage.
These results are not as good as what is indicated in the manual, however to be fair, it may need a longer time frame to even out the results more fully and January is not always the best month for trades.
To be honest I’m not overly encouraged to continue the trial because the results aren’t brilliant and on average it took about half an hour per day to place trades etc. Not much return for the effort involved. . Personally I do far better just trading normal high/low test bars or a trend following strategy.

Bought this strategy just before Christmas. It took some fairly solid reading (several times over and then some!) to get my head around it, but overall it looks good. Once its set up it should be quite easy to run. First two trades were winners (very early days I know) and I intend to trade this consistently, and strictly by the book for the next few months and see what happens. I know this review was posted some time ago Mark, so I hope mt comments will be useful to someone.
