I’ve used Trade Nation as my principle broker for many years. I like them for their tight spread costs, but mainly, it’s because I have confidence in them filling my prices and the best levels – something I can’t say about all brokers out there.
If you’re a regular with Trade Nation you may have had the upgrade to their new trading platform. Apparently it’s only been released to a small percentage of clients at the moment, but should be rolled out across users soon
When you go to launch the platform, you may get a message box like this …
If you click on the ‘Launch TN Trader NEW’, you’ll be into the upgrade.
If you’re not seeing this option yet, don’t worry. You can still get a sneaky peek at the upgraded platform here:
The new dashboard is more modern-looking, with different settings easier to find.
A lot of the options that used to be in the lower portion of the dashboard, are now in a new menu on the left. Stuff like ‘Alerts’ and ‘Positions’ and ‘History’.
And there are some quick-toggle options at the top, like one-click trading, and hedging (now called ‘Net On’) and the very vague ‘Account Health’ – which appears to be a measure of how much margin you’re using up.
So, what’s new?
The multi-chart feature makes looking at all the instruments you’re interested in at once much simpler, rather than flipping between windows. This should save a lot of time and fiddle.
There’s now more functionality on the ‘Alerts’ feature, which lets you choose between a price level or a percentage move, and to expire the alerts after a day. As someone who sets alerts and forgets to cancel them … this will prevent old ones that I’ve forgotten to close down causing confusion!
Beyond these little extras, I’m disappointed that there aren’t more options. I’d have liked to see OCO orders in particular.
That said, there may well be more features that I’ll unearth as I’m using the platform.
I’d be interested to hear if you’ve come across other features that are working for you, or what bug-bears you’ve found in the platform. Please share in the comments section.
